Reaction to the Alien: Romulus Trailer

Okay, we’re sneaking back into the roots of Alien. I was a fan of the two prequels (Except for Catherine Waterston’s haircut in Covenant).

The trailer looks like it’s going back to the claustrophobic roots of the original film, and Aliens to an extent. Alien 3 attempted to push that further with the exclusion of weapons and fell flat.

This time, the crew appear to be Gen Z in order to appeal to the youth (who probably barely know the Alien franchise exists).

Helming the new sequel is Fede Alvarez, an actual director of some succesful horror films. I haven’t seen Don’t Breathe yet but I’ve seen parts of the Evil Dead remake. There’s still hot debate about that. I only watched part of it because I intensely dislike new movies overusing attractive people. The original Evil Dead had normal looking people and the new version looked like a Forever 21 ad. That distracts me.

Anyhow, it’s probably the same case with this cast as nobody listed appears to be over the age 25. It quickly shows glimpses of the ship from outside, then the tight dark interiors (I just realized how that sounds). Then some youthful looking people running through corridors and glimpses of the face hugger, well, lots of them. But they’re all young they should be able to outrun them, except for the one with something emerging from their throat.

Let’s just hope there isn’t a pop song associated with it to appeal to the kids. Can you imagine? Ariana Grande singing about chest bursters?
